No. Cholula Hot Sauce© is made in Chapala, Mexico but Chapala Hot Sauce didn't sound as catchy for so they named it after the beautiful town of Cholula. For more information on Cholula Hot Sauce© visit www.cholula.com.
That’s ok! There are really good resources to help you navigate. The Google Translate mobile app is one. Not only can you pre-download a Spanish dictionary and type in what you want to be translated to show someone else, but the app has a camera feature that allows you to point the camera text and it will translate it for you. Very helpful with menus.
The travel page goes into detail on this. Short answer arrange with a transport company before hand or land and go to the taxi booths inside the Mexico City Airport and arrange a ride.
We’ve done some digging around town and found a few really great options for lodging- centrally located, adorable as all get out, affordable to boot. For more info, check out “Lodging” under the “Cholula Info” tab, or CLICK HERE.
Cinco de Mayo is a minor holiday in most of Mexico but there is a parade and celebration in the town of Puebla just 8 miles from Cholula. Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day, a popular misconception. Instead, it commemorates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. You can get from Cholula to Puebla via Taxi/Uber or there is a free train that connects Puebla and Cholula. If you arrive in time this would be a great chance to experience Cinco de Mayo where it all began.
Get ready for perfect weather. May in Cholula is historically one of the drier months with highs of around 78 and lows of around 49 at night.

Yes. We had great coverage on our last visit using T-Mobile and plenty of bars, restaurants, cafes, hotels around town offer free wifi.
Many carriers and cell plans have texting and calls included when traveling to Mexico. I know our T-mobile plan does. Check yours before you go and consider getting a travel plan for the trip, things are just easier with access to your phone and the ability to text other people at any time. You may be able to buy a SIM card to use HERE is a link to an article all about that.
You will be missed! We understand it’s a big ask to come all the way out to a small town two hours outside of Mexico City, and if you can’t make it- for any reason at all- there will be zero hard feelings and we will celebrate you there in spirit. What we DO ask, and we ask it as insistently as we can without sounding desperate...is that you let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no” so we can plan accordingly.
The RSVPs will stay open. We understand there’s a lot going on right now in the world and in people’s lives. If you’re waiting to RSVP because you’re uncertain whether you can make it for whatever reason, we understand. We just ask that you reach out to us directly and let us know your general intentions so we can try to plan as best we can. Thank you.
The dress code for the wedding ceremony and reception is cocktail attire. Here’s a great article with more information on what that means if you have questions.
The ceremony and reception are taking place at the same venue:
Hacienda San Jose Actipan
Km 2.1 Carretera Cholula-Tonantzintla
72817 San Andres Cholula, Puebla, Mexico
The venue is just over a mile outside of Cholula we're working on a shuttle service or if you want to you can use an Uber or local taxi to get there and back, which should be 5 USD/100 Pesos max. There is parking available at the venue also if anyone has rented a car, but unless you’re the designated driver we strongly recommend a cab.
Ceremony and cocktail hour are outdoors, dinner and reception are indoors with access to the outdoors. It’s unlikely to be muddy, but we still don’t recommend high heels on the grass.
Cocktail hour begins immediately following the ceremony, and dinner immediately follows that. The Bride and Groom and their families will be taking pictures nearby during cocktail hour, but guests are encouraged to drink, snack, and be merry.
For anyone not in a rush to get back to Mexico City to catch a flight, we’ll regroup on Saturday afternoon somewhere in town. We’re currently thinking a brewery, but the final location is TBD, so check back later for more details.
TBD. We’re working out the details with the event, but look for a late afternoon start (around 4pm) to the party on Friday.
We agree that Mexico City and the surrounding area is a superb choice for a family vacation, and we encourage you to make a bigger getaway out of this time to fully take in all it has to offer.
The planned gatherings aren't exactly designed as child friendly? But hey, your call...they probably won't be allowed in the pulqueria as it's a bar, but they would be allowed on the boats in Xochimilco, (though surrounded by generally unruly adults)...If you have a question about the venues/vibes, just ask. There's also lots of free time to do as you please.
If you’re bringing kids to Mexico and would like to be connected to other guests who are doing the same to coordinate something for the night, let us know and we’ll connect you.
Come on an empty stomach because we’ve got a cocktail hour, hors d'oeuvres, five courses at dinner, wedding churros, general snacks around for grazing and an open bar throughout. Dinner is Mexican fare.
Yes, we encourage guests to take and post pictures on to their social media, our one request is that you do not do so during the actual ceremony. We’ll have a photographer to capture the moment, so please keep your phones put away completely during this time to avoid disturbing other guests. We do have a hashtag #blipandflair to help keep track of everyone’s great pics if you’re into it!
We do not recommend driving yourself but if you’re driving, there is valet at the venue, and it is free.
Yes.
Final menu is still TBD, but we will be sure to try and include vegan friendly options. Please let us know if you have other dietary restrictions and we’ll try to work with those as well.
You can call us or send us an email at BlipandFlair@FlipandBlair.com
